Account Needed to Use New Public EV Charging

Electric vehicle owners will soon have to set up an account in order to use Manx Utilities public charging facilities.

MU will shortly be replacing the existing Pod-Point units with Evolt Charging.

Drivers will then be required to set up an account at www.evoltnetwork.co.uk.

During registration drivers can order an RFID card, which will enable a tap to start a charge and tap to stop a charge.

Other payment methods are via the App or by using Web-pay, details can be found here.

EV Charging Costs

The over the last three years the EV charging points have generated over £140,000 of revenue to the utility authority.

Manx Utilities has been able to extract the total revenue received, which is as follows:

  • 2023-24, £80,982.60
  • 2021-22, £22,573.64
  • 2022-23, £43,806.65

An FoI revealed that Manx Utilities has been spent £598,943.39 on the procurement of hardware and installations.
