Acts of vandalism have been reported on the grounds of one of the Islands most treasured heritage sites, Castle Rushen.
Manx National Hertiage (MNH) reports that windows have been broken in a building adjoining the Speaker’s Garden in Castletown.
MNH says ‘this does not send out a positive message to visitors to our Island or to residents who enjoy Castletown’.
The damage has also meant unnecessary cost to the charity and the repairs will take ‘vital funds away from maintaining our island’s incredible heritage sites’.
Vandalism
Information has been provided to the police in relation to these instances, anyone with further information please contact the Isle of Man Constabulary.
MNH has reached out to those responsible, saying that the individuals are ‘very welcome to come forward to fund the cost of repairs’.
The Speaker’s Garden will temporarily be closed from tomorrow (July 10) until repair works are safely completed.
