Government House has hosted one of its “most moving and important ceremonies ever undertaken in the grounds”.
Lieutenant Governor, Sir John and Lady Lorimer welcomed the Airborne Forces Riders for the dedication and presentation of their new Standard.
The ceremony saw the consecration and blessing of the AFR’s Standard, symbolising the charity’s values of “loyalty, service, and remembrance.”
Reverend Andrew Coleman led the dedication before Sir John presented the Standard to AFR representative Major David Lang.
Watched by local veterans, military charity representatives, and members of the Moddey Dhoo Motorcycle Club, the event was described as “unique and poignant”.
Government House said, “It was an honour to welcome so many men and women who have served, or who are currently serving, to take part in such a special occasion.”
