Anthony Allen has announced he will stand for Garff in the 2026 House of Keys election, pitching himself as a business‑minded candidate with long experience in local government.
Allen, a three‑time Chair of Onchan Commissioners and a Justice of the Peace, says he offers “practical delivery, not career politics”. He highlights his role in turning Laxey Flour Mill from loss‑making to profitable and his background in both DEFA and the food industry.
He sets out a series of priorities for Garff, including scrutiny of the offshore wind farm plans, pushing for long‑delayed sewage treatment upgrades, better road maintenance, improved healthcare access and stronger support for local businesses and agriculture.
Allen says he will hold regular surgeries, publish his voting record and “never vote against Garff’s interests without explaining why”.
Seán Boström announced his intention to stand in Garff last month.
Sitting Garff MHKs Daphne Caine and Andrew Smith have yet to declare their intentions regarding re-election.
