Arbory and Rushen Parish Commissioners have announced the appointment of Barry Kennedy as its new Clerk.
The change comes as Phil Gawne prepares to leave the post at the end of March.
Mr Kennedy currently serves as Clerk to both Santon and Jurby Parish Commissioners, though he will relinquish his Jurby role when he takes up the new position.
He said he was “delighted” to be chosen as Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer, adding that following in Mr Gawne’s footsteps would ensure his dedication to supporting the Chair and Commissioners “to the benefit of the Parish and its inhabitants”.
Welcoming New Clerk
Commissioners’ Chair Kirrie Jenkins welcomed the appointment, saying: “The Commissioners are very pleased to welcome Barry Kennedy as our new Clerk.
“Barry brings considerable experience in local government and we look forward to working with him to support the parish and its residents.
“On behalf of all of the board of Commissioners I would also like to thank Phil Gawne for his service and commitment to Arbory & Rushen and wish him well in his retirement.”
