Castletown Town Commissioner is to hold a drop-in day for people to have their say on a new bold masterplan for Poulsom Park.
The drop-in session with the project architect, will be held on the morning election day, April 24, in the town’s Library.
All feedback will be presented to the incoming Board of Castletown Commissioners for their consideration.
The authority said: “This is an aspirational masterplan, designed to enable a phased upgrade of the park over time. Delivery of the proposals will require support and coordination with other agencies to bring the full vision to life.”
Plans
The plans include:
A new children’s play area
Nature trails and wildflower meadows to enhance biodiversity
Upgraded pathways linking the park to the town centre and Millennium Way
New exercise and leisure facilities, including outdoor fitness spaces and BMX trails
Public art features connecting to the Silverburn Art Trail
Improved public amenities and enhanced accessibility for all visitors
Rugby
As part of the evolving Masterplan, the space currently occupied by the rugby pitches would be repurposed to create a more accessible and flexible community park space.
The Commissioners say the board will work with Castletown Rugby Club to “support them in identifying an alternative venue for competitive games should this proposal progress, there will be no immediate impact on the use of the park as a sporting venue”.
