Ramsey RNLI has hailed a new milestone after Barbara Wallace successfully passed her assessment to become the station’s newest Launch Authority.
During the exam, Coastal Lifeboat Trainer Paul Taylor put her through a series of demanding questions and scenarios.
“We say a huge congratulations to Barbara who yesterday passed her assessment to become our newest Launch Authority,” a Ramsey RNLI post said.
The Launch Authority is a critical position responsible for receiving tasking requests from the coastguard and giving the order to launch the lifeboat.
The role also provides leadership in the absence of the Lifeboat Operations Manager and ensures operational readiness.
The qualification means Mrs Wallace can now authorise emergency launches, playing a direct part in the island’s search and rescue operations. Ramsey RNLI described the achievement as a testament to her dedication and local knowledge.
