Jade Burden has been beaten by Irishwoman Shauna Browne, who claims the previously vacant WBA Gold and IBF International Lightweight belts.
Burden fought valiantly in the contest tonight (October 25) and matched her more experienced opponent throughout the opening exchanges, landing a variety of testing blows.
But the Commonwealth Silver Super Featherweight Champion was rocked by a venomous right hand from Browne in round six, immediately looking unsteady on her feet, with the referee waving the contest off moments later. The result will go down as a defeat by technical knockout.
The loss is Burden’s first as a professional, and her record now stands at 5-1. Browne, on the other hand, improves to 9-1.
