Isle of Man boxing sensation Jade Burden has promised to dust herself down after her title fight defeat.
Jade Burden lost out to Irishwoman Shauna Browne, who claimed the previously vacant WBA Gold and IBF International Lightweight belts.
“What a night!” Jade said in a message to supporters shortly after the fight.
“It did not go my way but, look, lessons learned.”
“I went up a weight against a very, very good fighter in Shauna Browne. Not only that, probably a friend for life now.”
Gutted
She added: “Obviously a bit gutted because I felt if I had kept going it would have been really close.”
“I will never say no to a big fight, especially having you guys behind me.
“I will dust myself down. Loads to take away from it.”
Burden fought well in the contest and matched her opponent in the opening exchanges.
But a venomous right hand from Browne, in round six, left her unsteady on her feet, with the referee waving the contest off moments later. The result will go down as a defeat by technical knockout.
Thanks to Supporters
Jade thanked everyone who bought tickets and went to the fight, along with her sponsors, coaches, manager and “most importantly thank you to my wife Emma”.
The loss is Burden’s first as a professional, and her record now stands at 5-1. Browne, on the other hand, improves to 9-1.
