The Education Minister has been asked to set out when it is acceptable for a pupil to be absent from school for multiple weeks during term time.
The query to Daphne Caine MHK focuses on cases where no written request has been submitted.
Juan Watterson SHK has also asked how the Department for Education, Sport and Culture expects schools to assess any undocumented request for leave of absence.
The question is due to be answered on April 1.
