UCM is calling for papers for its Biosphere Isle of Man themed Research Festival.
This year’s event invites submissions that highlight the depth, diversity and innovation of research connected to the island’s whole-nation biosphere.
Researchers, students, academics, community groups and businesses who are undertaking work that explores or advances the Isle of Man’s status as a UNESCO
Biosphere are encouraged to register their interest by July 31 by emailing researchvannin@ucm.ac.im.
Additionally, organisations who would like to sponsor the event can find details of how they can get involved on the UCM website.
Research Festival
The Biosphere concept spans a wide range of areas that contribute to a thriving, sustainable island, including economy, heritage & culture, community, health & wellbeing, and Environment.
Gail Corrin, UCM’s Higher Education Manager, said: “The Isle of Man is uniquely proud to be recognised as the first entire-nation UNESCO Biosphere. This honour reflects our ability to support a balanced and sustainable relationship between people, place and nature.
“It’s never been more important to celebrate research that strengthens our resilience, nurtures our environment and enriches the lives of our community.”
Last year, the event welcomed more than 200 people to listen to the presentations delivered by both local and off-island researchers.
