The Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce has celebrated its 70th anniversary with a gala dinner at Peel Cathedral.
The evening featured performances from Roc Vannin Choir, speeches from Chamber leaders and Isle of Man Salt Co founder Helen Crosbie, and live music from NOVA Band.
President Claire Watterson used her address to highlight the economic challenges facing island businesses, while stressing the need to “say yes to growth, yes to innovation and yes to backing the talent that already exists here.”
She said the Island has repeatedly shown its ability to work collectively to build a resilient, future‑proof economy.
The event was sponsored by Ørsted, developer of the proposed Mooir Vannin Offshore Wind Farm, which the company says could deliver up to £2bn in benefits to the Island. Project Director Jamie Baldwin said access to cheaper, secure renewable energy would be key to future economic growth and long‑term skilled jobs.
Chamber CEO Rebecca George paid tribute to the many individuals and organisations who have shaped the Chamber over seven decades, emphasising that its strength comes from members working together across all sectors.
VIP guests included His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor Sir John Lorimer, Helen Crosbie, and Ørsted’s Richard Bodal Hansen. The London Institute of Business and Technology also supported the event.
