Lee Crawford says his team fully supports the decision to suspend sidecar racing during the rest of this year’s TT.
Officials made the decision after Ryan and Callum Crowe were injured when their sidecar crashed at Crosby.
Changes were introduced to sidecars for this year’s TT with new regulations which saw restrictor plates added to engines in an attempt to bring top speeds down.
However, Lee said: “The measures that have been put in place to make it slower and safer don’t seem to have materialised into the desired effect.
“And to avoid any further safety concerns this is the outcome. I do hope that as a class we can come together to find a way forward . Thoughts with Ryan & Callum on a safe fast recovery.”
Suspended
Announcing the decision, officials said: “This precautionary measure has been implemented in the interests of competitor and spectator safety and reflects the race organisation’s commitment to reviewing all aspects of event safety and operational delivery whenever an incident occurs.
“All sidecar competitors and teams involved in the event have been briefed by Race Officials on the outcome of the initial review and the next stages of the assessment process.
“We recognise the long-standing history of Sidecar racing at the TT, together with the commitment of the competitors, teams and supporters involved in the class.
“This decision has not been taken lightly. However, the safety of competitors, spectators, marshals, officials and all those involved in the event must remain the priority.”
Officials have however refused to give any further comment or take questions on the decision.
