Charities Urged to Apply for Collection Licences

Douglas Town Hall in Ridgeway Street, Douglas

Charities and voluntary organisations are being invited to apply for fundraising flag day and street collection licences in Douglas next year.

Douglas City Centre Management (DCCM), a service provided by Douglas Council, has opened applications for next year, with local organisations encouraged to register their interest ahead of the closing date of November 19.

The annual scheme helps charities and community groups generate additional income.

Douglas City Centre Manager Oliver Cheshire said: “Island charities and community groups make a tremendous contribution to our community and the generosity shown by the Manx public in supporting their work is something we greatly value.

“We recognise that raising funds is an ongoing challenge for many, particularly with continued pressure on household finances. Flag days and street collections offer a valuable way to connect with the public and raise money for worthwhile causes.”

Those wishing to apply must hold their own public liability insurance. Application forms can be requested by emailing DCCM@douglas.gov.im.

A maximum of 28 collections are permitted in the city centre each year.
