Charity Speed Shear Raises Over £7k For Charity

The Annual Isle of Man Charity Speed Shear has smashed expectations for a second year running, raising £7,117.68 so far, with more donations still coming in.

The money was raised in support of Ed Space IOM, the island charity providing mental health support, particularly within the agricultural community.

The event brings together farmers, shearers and supporters for fast‑paced competitive sheep shearing followed by a charity auction.

Organisers said the level of generosity and community spirit this year had been “incredible”.

Philip Christian claimed the Robert Kissack Trophy, while Frankie Auer, who travelled from Australia, won Best Under 25, sponsored by Mann Direct Footwear.

A standout contribution came from Matie at Lekka Wines, whose efforts helped raise £1,250 alone through auction activity.

Organisers thanked everyone who donated, bought tickets, bid in the auction or supported the event in any way, adding that planning is already underway for next year’s fundraiser.
