Charlotte Barham raised £1100 by trekking 150,000 steps through Nepal for Junior Achievement Isle of Man.
Charlotte, along with 25 eager trekkers, set off on October 28 from a hotel in Kathmandu on a journey like no other to combat the 45 miles ahead of them.
Speaking on the challenge she said: “We were all there for many different personal reasons, aged from 20 to 70 years old we were covering all walks of life, professions and fitness levels.
“However we had one thing in common, we were there for Junior Achievement Isle of Man, to raise awareness and money for them.”
Trekking Nepal
The group were lead by a group of Sherpas and Dr Neil their guide, they had the support of a fantastic team of porters, local tea house owners and each other.
Over five days they trekked up thousands of steps, and back down again, through jungle in daylight and darkness, navigated landslides, angry dogs, rogue goats, buffalo, cows, rocky riverbeds, Nepalese roads, and that was only the start of it.
Charlotte said: “Temperatures got as high as 27degrees and the air did start to get pretty thin at 3,500m above sea level but it was totally worth it to see the places, views and meet the people we did.
“The Nepalese community is tough as boots yet humble and warm is completely equal measures.”
