Christmas Comes to the Capital

The most wonderful time of the year arrives in Douglas as the free parking on the prom starts again.

Today also marks Douglas’ Christmas light switch, with a wide range of events on throughout the town.

As well as launching late night shopping, there are events going on throughout the capital including live music, a film and a visit from the big man himself.

The big moment comes at 7pm when the lights are switched on.

Across the town centre, there is an outdoor cinema at the northern end of the high street showing Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, with the Polar Express to follow after the lights are switched on.

There will also be Crazy Golf on Marina Road, snow will fall on Castle Street, there will be a dazzling fire show on King Street and an ice sculpture outside the Strand Shopping Centre.

As if that wasn’t enough, Santa will be popping by opening his grotto at Strand Shopping Centre, live music and panto on Granville Street and performances by three bands on Howard Street (5.30pm Briarfield Brass Brand, 6.30pm Douglas Town Band and 7.30pm Onchan Silver Band).

And if all that isn’t enough, there is also Wood n Craft at the HBN Library.

Free parking is available at Shaw’s Brow, Bottleneck and Loch Promenade
