Castletown Commissioners are currently being served by an acting clerk, Colin Meakin, while Hugo McKenzie remains listed as the substantive Clerk to the authority.
Public local authority contact listings show Meakin in the role, although it is unclear what has led to the temporary arrangement.
In response to Manx.News, Castletown Commissioners Chair said: “I can advise you that the Commissioners do not comment on matters relating to our staff, and therefore in relation to your enquiry there is no comment.”
The situation has attracted wider attention after a Lawrie Hooper MHK lodged a Tynwald question asking the Infrastructure Minister how many local authorities across the Isle of Man are operating with acting or interim clerks, and what oversight the Department provides in such cases.
No further information has been released.
