A 20-year-old has been told to carry out 80 hours community service after he admitted disorderly conduct on licensed premises.
Jonathan Watson, from Douglas, was sentenced by Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood.
The court heard that Watson was at a family christening party in 1886 when he stepped in during a dispute to act as peacemaker.
However, as events escalated he pushed a doorman before continuing to row with him outside.
Defence advocate Helen Lobb said her client, who she said doesn’t usually drink, had acted “out of character” and had a “great deal” of remorse for what has happened.
Ms Braidwood told Watson his involvement in the incident was “unwise and unacceptable”.
She sentenced him to 80 hours community service and ordered Watson to pay £125 in court costs.
