The Isle of Man Constabulary’s ‘Police School Education Team’ have started their school sessions for the 2024-25 year.
PC’s Lou Kennaugh, Jane Butler and Jeanette Krejci from the Eastern Policing Team have been given this role in order to ensure consistency in the delivery of service to the school communities.
Based at Police Headquarters and supervised by Sgt Pam Robinson, they are solely responsible for delivering a package of educational sessions created specifically for each year group from Nurseries/Reception to UCM if required, across the island.
Educational establishments are able to opt in to some or all sessions or we can create ad hoc sessions dependant on each school’s need at any specific time.
Police School Education Team
PC Lou Kennaugh said: “Each School in any area is its own individual community with its own needs and we must be able to adapt to these in order to offer consistent support to the children, teachers, parents and the wider community in which they are an integral part.”
The Police Education officers offer a package which has been agreed by the Department of Education and was created by the officers concerned, with the support of teaching staff and is based on issues that are current and relevant.
However, the Police Education Officer are able to adapt where it may be felt that any school may require additional support relevant to their needs.
