Douglas Council wants to encourage residents from all backgrounds to stand in the upcoming by-election.
One seat is available in the South Ward following the departure of Karel Ver Elst.
Nominations open tomorrow (October 28).
Forms are available at the City Hall or on the council’s website and must be returned by 1pm on November 4.
The by-election will take place on December 3.
The other two representatives of Douglas’ South Ward are Councillors Steven Crellin and David Cretney.
Council Leader Devon Watson says there are a number of roles available to the successful candidate, covering housing, the environment and regeneration.
Local Democracy Reporter Emma Draper has been speaking to him:
The council has thanked formally Ver Elst for his service.
He was elected to Douglas South ward in April last year and recently stood down due to personal commitments.
A member of the Housing and Property Committee and Pensions Committee who strongly supported collaboration between the public sector, private enterprise and local communities, the local authority has thanked him for his “valuable contribution over the past 18 months and wishes him well for the future”.
