Douglas City Council is continuing to take a proactive stance on neglected and dilapidated, properties across the island’s capital.
Although just 0.26% of homes are listed as being in disrepair, the local authority says its clear there is no room for complacency.
Ongoing enforcement work continues to ensure all properties remain safe, secure and well-maintained, while the Council’s Dilapidations Enforcement Officer works closely with property owners to secure timely repairs and clean-up.
Neglected Properties
“We take the condition of properties seriously – not just for the safety of the public, but for the pride and character of our city,” said Environmental Services Committee chairman, Councillor Falk Horning.
He added: “We always welcome constructive dialogue and aim to work with property owners wherever possible. However, when cooperation isn’t forthcoming, we will take further action where necessary.
“We all want to live in a Douglas that’s safe, well-kept and great to look at and that means looking out for our neighbourhoods, our homes and each other.”
