The DoI and Crogga have until December 20 to resolve outstanding issues in relation to the request to vary the terms of the company’s license.
It wants to alter its seaward production innovative license to allow drilling on the basis of a 2D survey.
Minister Michelle Haywood told members said she was “unable to give specific details due to on going legal negotiations”.
However, Dr Haywood was able to add: “There is some further legislation and regulation required.
“We are talking to both Crogga and Orsted about the fact that they have rights that overlap, this is known as coexistence and we’re in ongoing discussions with both regarding their respective programs and the due diligence exercise is ongoing.”
Chris Thomas, who asked the question, said the answer was one that “could have been written several years ago” but didn’t provide a deadline.
He said: “Minister [Tim] Crookall extended the license three or four times, we haven’t seen documents for the last couple so we’re not exactly clear, does the new minister expect to be the next minister who extends the deadline further?
“Or can we expect to have all of those issues resolved in the next fortnight?”
Dr Haywood confirmed that the deadline is December 20, as per the extension granted in November.
