Artists, designers, and craftspeople have a change to leave their mark on the Commonwealth Games baton.
One local design will feature in the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and next year’s King’s Baton Relay visit.
For the first time, every Commonwealth nation and territory will receive its own baton, with each customising their design.
All 74 batons will be reunited at the Glasgow 2026 Opening Ceremony after the King’s Baton Relay tours the Commonwealth.
The design theme centres on Manx culture and heritage, with interpretation left to the artist’s discretion.
Relay
A local judging panel will select the winning design in March 2026, and the chosen artist will then apply it to the baton ahead of the King’s Baton Relay’s arrival.
Basil Bielich, President of the Commonwealth Games Association of the Isle of Man, said: “We are excited to be able to offer this opportunity to local creatives to design the Isle of Man’s baton.
“The baton itself is simple and sustainable with no complex electronics or chambers. It stands at around 470mm high with each face around 70mm wide.
“With that in mind the design potential is broad, so we are hoping for some inspirational design ideas to be submitted.”
