Mark O’Connor will lead the Manx contingent of Scouts as they head to the 26th World Scout Jamboree in Poland in 2027.
The Onchan volunteer, who attended the 2015 Jamboree in Japan and completed an Explorer Belt expedition in Iceland in 2017, will guide nine young Island Scouts at the global gathering of 50,000 participants.
“Attending the World Scout Jamboree in Japan was a life-changing experience for me,” Mark said. “I’m incredibly honoured to now lead a new generation of Manx Scouts on their own international adventure.”
This year marks the first time Manx Scouts will join forces with Jersey, Guernsey and British Overseas Territories to form a 40-strong Channel Islands and Overseas Territories unit within the UK contingent.
