The Leader of Douglas Council says he is ‘thrilled’ that a scheme to redevelop two sections of the promenade and Queen’s Gardens has been granted planning permission.
Councillor Devon Watson believes it’s important for the local authority to ‘invest’ resources into making sure the area is ‘high quality’ and protected from storms and high tides.
It’s expected to cost £1.4m and will see a new play area and skate park installed in the Marine Gardens, whilst further along new seating and a beach shower will be built.

Mr Watson says the council will soon be opening the tender process and petitioning the Department of Infrastructure for the money.
