An election candidate has dropped out of the running just two days after announcing he was going to contest the House of Keys election.
Alfie Duggan had previously announced that he was standing in Douglas South.
But he said today: “After a great deal of thought, I have made the difficult decision to withdraw from the 2026 General Election.
“Since declaring my intention to stand, I have learned much more about the time and commitment required to run a proper campaign. With the limited time remaining before the election, alongside the additional commitments involved and working full time, I have come to realise that I simply cannot give the campaign the time and dedication it deserves.”
He said he did not think he could “do justice” to an election campaign and thanked those who had supported and encouraged him.
The five candidates announced in Douglas South are: Dean Bolton, Claire Christian, Arwid Hall, Livia Lenarduzzi and Sarah Maltby.
