The record 29-time TT winner Michael Dunlop will ride BMW and Ducati machinery at this year’s races, marking a significant change in his line-up.
Dunlop will once again partner with Hawk Racing for the Superbike and Senior TT races, riding the latest BMW M1000RR.
For the Superstock races, he will use his own MD Racing machine.
The 36-year-old is no stranger to BMW on the Mountain Course, though it has been six years since his last outing on one. In 2019, he rode the Tyco BMW—the same bike he took to victory in the 2018 Superbike TT.
Prior to that, Dunlop secured wins in both the Superbike and Senior TT races in 2014 aboard a Hawk Racing-backed BMW with full factory support.
That victory marked BMW’s first Senior TT win since 1939, when Georg Meier triumphed on a supercharged 500cc machine.
Success
Further success followed in 2016 when Dunlop and Hawk Racing secured another Superbike-Senior double.
During the Superbike race, he became the first rider to lap the course in under 17 minutes, later raising the outright lap record to 133.962mph in the Senior.
The shift in Supersport competitiveness – with the Triumph 765cc, Ducati 955cc, and Suzuki 750cc increasingly setting the pace – has led Dunlop to opt for the Ducati.
After extensive overseas testing and an impressive ninth-place finish at March’s Daytona 200, the Italian machine now looks to be his informed choice for TT 2025.
Dunlop said – “I’m delighted to be involved with MILWAUKEE again, it’s been a long time but something I am very excited about and looking forward to a strong season on board the MILWAUKEE Ducati V2.
“They have given me a great opportunity to have a strong season and it’s a new challenge I’m eagerly awaiting.”
