Fire crews from Ramsey and Specialist Animal Rescue Team recused a horse that had got itself trapped on a farm gate.
The incident happened earlier today in the north of the island.
Fire crews liaised with the owner of the horse and the attending vet to devise a plan to free him safely.
As the horse had been trapped for approximately two hours, he was sedated by the vet to prevent further stress and injury.
Crews proceeded to devise a system using lines and other small gear to effect a successful rescue before the owners returned him to the stables for a well deserved rest.
