Firefighter to Contest General Election

Seán Boström has become the first candidate to confirm he will stand for Garff in this summer’s General Election.

The firefighter, who has served 28 years in the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service, said he had been considering the move since the last general election in 2021.

“After 28 years serving as a firefighter I feel now is the time for a new chapter, to continue serving and supporting the island, in a new way,” Boström said.

“I believe I have the resilience and enthusiasm to put in the work expected for this role.”

Mr Boström said he plans to focus on improving public services and communication across government.

“I plan to bring improvement to society and public services by building stronger bridges and improved communication between government departments and all relevant stakeholders,” he said.

“I believe we can all do better to improve what is already the best place to live.”

Sitting Garff MHKs Daphne Caine and Andrew Smith have yet to declare their intentions regarding re-election.
