First Responders Ready for TT

With the world’s greatest road racers now just two weeks away, the community responders have been readying to support the island’s emergency services.

The St John Ambulance volunteers were observed going through their paces by Lieutenant Governor Sir John Lorimer.

Volunteers took part in their refresher training with Chief Commissioner Stuart Headon and CFR Co-ordinator Jocelyn Horne putting the experienced practitioners through their paces.

Government House said: “On the same evening, His Excellency was also interested to meet the Cadets of Douglas 2 Unit, as they delivered first aid scenarios, under the watchful eye of Unit Manager, George Pressley.

“Whilst enjoying a much needed cup of tea, His Excellency had a chance to chat with the volunteers and thank them for all their essential assistance, not only at TT, but all the year round at numerous events around the Island.

“St John Ambulance really are an indispensable part of Island life. We are lucky that so many of their volunteers are prepared to give up their time to help keep the community safe.”
