The Department of Infrastructure says five formal submissions were lodged on the West Quay flood defence and highway scheme.
In a written Tynwald answer to Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper, Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall MHK said the Department received four public representations from individual residents and one statutory consultee response.
All were submitted through the Planning and Building Control Directorate’s online Planning Portal under application reference 25/91186/B, where they remain publicly accessible.
Ramsey Flood Scheme
The statutory responses focused on two key issues:
- the proposed height of the new flood defence wall, and
- the potential loss of parking linked to the scheme.
Alongside the formal submissions, the Department also received informal verbal and written feedback from Ramsey Town Commissioners, local residents, and the Northern Chamber of Commerce.
This included objections raised at a Special Board Meeting of the Commissioners on February 11, which echoed concerns about wall height and parking while also questioning whether the design was appropriate for the character of the town.
These informal comments do not form part of the statutory planning process and are not published, but the Minister said they were considered as part of wider stakeholder engagement.
