Manx Care’s Family Placement Service is backing Foster Care Fortnight 2026, which runs from May 11 to 24.
The UK‑wide campaign, led by The Fostering Network, celebrates foster carers and highlights the urgent need for more people to come forward.
On the island foster carers provide stability and safety to children and young people during critical moments in their lives.
This year’s theme, ‘This is Fostering’, focuses on everyday realities such as helping a child settle into a new school or rebuilding trust after difficult experiences.
Change Lives
A spokesperson for Manx Care’s Family Placement Service said: “Foster carers change lives every day. Their skill, commitment and compassion are extraordinary. But we urgently need more carers to come forward.”
During the fortnight, the service will hold events to thank existing foster carers and raise awareness.
Drop‑in sessions are planned for Thursday May 14 at Santander Work Café from 12pm to 2pm, and Wednesday May 20 at Costa at The Sea Terminal from 5pm to 7pm.
Anyone interested in fostering can contact the Family Placement Service directly. Carers are needed for placements ranging from one night to several years.
The spokesperson added: “By fostering, you can make a lasting difference to a child’s life. We are here to support you every step of the way.”
