The Great North Air Ambulance Service is looking to recruit an experienced fundraiser to help secure its future on the Isle of Man.
GNASS has responded more than 60 times to incidents on the island since March 2022.
The service was commissioned by Manx Care supported by the Isle of Man Cabinet Office’s Transformation Programme.
Emergency Air Bridge
It was in response to a key recommendation made by Sir Jonathan Michael in his review into health and care services on the island: the creation of an enhanced 24/7 emergency air bridge.
During the initial trial, GNAAS received funding from Manx Care to respond to the island, to supplement their normal costs of operating which are currently £9.3m a year, but this was not guaranteed once the trial ended.
In April, a new 12-month contract commenced, whereby Manx Care agreed to fund the service based on a per mission costing and GNAAS committed to strengthening its fundraising activities on the island.
New Contract
It is estimated that the charity needs to raise £124,000 a year to cover additional costs such as the safety equipment required to travel over water.
To help secure these funds, the charity is recruiting for a fundraiser who lives on the island to support the growth of their engagement and fundraising activities across the Isle of Man.
GNAAS is looking for someone with a proven track record in fundraising, relationship building, and community engagement.
Fundraiser Needed
The fundraiser will work closely with volunteers and supporters across the Island to significantly grow awareness and income, ensuring critical care remains available to those who need it most.
The full-time position is home-based and offers a salary of £28,500–£34,500, depending on experience.
There may be occasional evening and weekend work, and the fundraiser will be required to visit the charity’s headquarters in the North East of England six times a year.
