Govt Conference to Get Underway

The annual Government Conference will get underway this morning at the Comis Hotel.

It will start with a welcome speech from the Chief Minister Alfred Cannan at 8:45am.

Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with the Chief Minister and Ministers along with prominent panellists, addressing vital topics to the business community.

Today’s topics will include connectivity, managing public finances, education and healthcare.

Govt Conference

Shortly before 11am, Infrastructure Minister, Dr Michelle Haywood MHK will give a presentation on ‘Keeping the island moving: Building better connections’.

After 11am, the Enterprise Minister, Tim Johnston MHK and Interim Airport Director, Geoff Pugh will give a presentation on national air connectivity and Isle of Man Airport update.

It will be followed by an update from the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Managing Director and Chair.

Final Conference

Alfred Cannan MHK, Chief Minister commented: “Our commitment to community engagement has played a key role in this administration, providing the opportunity for myself and Ministers to engage on key topics and issues facing both residents and businesses.

“The ‘Listening to You’ events offered the chance for members of the public to engage directly through one-to-one conversations while the Conference ensures Government can present on strategic updates which impact the business community.

“This year’s Conference, the fourth and final of this administration, will cover a range of topics including public service efficiencies, government finances and the economy, education update, healthcare delivery and connectivity to name a few.

“Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from and engage in meaningful conversations with Ministers, guest speakers on our strategic priorities and I encourage all those in the business community and the general public to register for the event.”
