The Andreas Racing Association (ARA) has received an £11,900 grant from the Manx Lottery Trust to upgrade its radio communication system at Jurby Airfield.
The volunteer-run club, which nurtures local motorsport talent, supports riders aged 14 and above as they progress to events like the Southern 100, Manx Grand Prix, and the TT.
With 60–70 competitors per race weekend, reliable communication between officials, marshals, and medics is critical.
The outdated system had previously strained operations, but the new equipment has transformed race-day coordination.
Instant Difference
Daryll Hill, Clerk of Course, said: “Having reliable and efficient radio communications is paramount to the safety of running events. The new system has made an instant, dramatic difference.
“It’s given everyone peace of mind and made our events significantly easier to manage.”
Linda Alton-Heath, Chairman of ARA, added: “Equipment failures had recently brought us close to cancellation, so this grant has been a lifeline. It secures our ability to operate at a professional standard and gives us confidence to expand our calendar.
“This investment supports not just a circuit, but a legacy.”

ARA, now in its 55th year, hosts around a dozen meetings annually, including endurance races and the Isle of Man Road Race Centre Championships.
