Milntown Estate and Gardens has secured a £25,000 grant to transform its heritage fruit and vegetable garden into a more inclusive, educational space for the island.
The funding from Manx Lottery Trust will support the installation of a new greenhouse, raised beds and all‑ability pathways, developed in partnership with Manx Wildlife Trust.
The improvements aim to make the garden accessible to people of all abilities while strengthening opportunities for learning, volunteering and community engagement.
Transform Gardens
Milntown’s 25‑strong volunteer team grows produce for local community projects and works with chefs to supply fresh ingredients for the estate’s restaurant. The group has also earned awards at local fairs for its harvest.
Adam Quayle, General Manager of the Milntown Trust, said: “This generous grant from the Manx Lottery Trust will be more than transformative for Milntown Estate.
“It will allow us to create an inclusive and accessible garden space where all members of the community can come together, learn and contribute. With the new greenhouse, raised beds and all-ability pathways, we’re not only growing produce but connections, inclusivity and education.”
Manx Lottery Trust Chairman David Christian said the project would support inclusion and environmental education, ensuring the island’s heritage and green initiatives “thrive for generations to come”.
The enhancements are expected to encourage greater engagement with nature, food growing and healthy eating, while continuing Milntown’s contribution to community and conservation efforts.
