Whilst we were asleep, the emergency services were helping transfer a patient in less that ideal weather conditions.
At 3.25am this morning (February 17) Douglas Coastguard’s were paged to a Medi Vac out from the Island, but due to the weather conditions the helicopter, Rescue 936, had to land on Douglas Beach to carry out the transfer.

The Coastguards’s said this was in “next to zero visibility” and it displayed “extreme skill” to do so.
Police and IOM Ambulance staff also attended. The transfer was successfully completed, and the Coastguard team were back on station for 5.25am.
