Heritage Trail Closed for Urgent Work

A section of the Heritage Trail has been temporarily closed by the DoI to allow for urgent maintenance works.

It is closed between the Raggatt, Patrick, and Public Right of Way (PROW) 124.

The closure, in effect until Friday June 27, is necessary due to surface water running over the track.

A spokesperson said: “While the required work is expected to be relatively minor, the site is constrained and the closure allows the team to address the issue promptly and safely, to ensure the path remains in good condition ahead of the busy summer holiday period.”

The exact completion date will depend on conditions encountered. No diversion is in place due to the location and nature of surrounding roads.

Respect

The Department has urged the public to respect the closure after past incidents where walkers ignored restrictions.

“In the past, some members of the public have ignored closures on this route, which causes delays as staff are required to stop machinery and manage pedestrian access,” the spokesperson said.

“We ask that all users respect the closure and avoid the area to help ensure the work is completed as quickly and safely as possible.”

Due to excavation work, the closure will remain in place 24 hours a day until completion.
