Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall says his department is working on ways to permit cross-pavement electric vehicle charging.
While publicly available sites are available, it is an issue for people living in areas without off-street parking.
He said the DoI is developing a strategic approach with stakeholders like Manx Utilities.
However, he warned: “Placing cables across the footway without consent or in a manner that could cause danger or annoyance to pedestrians is an offence.”
Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse pressed for urgency, noting UK guidance exists.
Minister Crookall confirmed there is currently no timetable but told MHKs, “We are looking at trying to find ways.”
