Over the course of this week, the ESJCR has taken multiple 999’s every day from a child playing with a phone.
There is no mobile number attached to the device, making a call-back impossible for the ESJCR team.
Every time this happens, it prevents an operator from being available to take a genuine 999 call.
The ESJCR said: “If you have given your child, or maybe one you are looking after as it is half term, a mobile device, please consider these implications, who knows, it may be you who needs to call us in a genuine emergency.”
