Jordan Cain and Jess Bryan came out on top in the final round of the Western AC Trail Series.
The pair won their retrospective sections of the 10km race in Peel yesterday (February 2) morning.
The races for the older athletes were held in dry conditions overhead, with the heavy early morning rain fizzling out just before the 10am start.
Trail Running
Bernat Munoz-Fite was well clear in the 5km race with a time of 21:29, whilst second was Tonya Corrin and third Terry Bates.
In the 10km there was the usual close battle between the trio of Jordan Cain, Andy Nash and Joel Smith, with Jordan winning in a time of 34:53.
Andy clocked 35:05 and Joel 35:15, while Rory Dearden was fourth not too far behind with 35:56.
The top 10 were completed by Ryan Hampson, Stephen Downward, Paul Rodgers, Andrew Milnes, Geoff Rice and Josh Knights.
Female winner Jess Bryan went well in a time of quite close to 40 minutes.
Erika Lockley wasn’t too far behind in second, and there was a close battle for third between Jackie Lee and Alice Atkinson – the latter making an excellent impression on the local running scene since moving to the Isle of Man from Cumbria last year.
Neil Wade and Rachael Greham both race walked the 10km race, not easy on the gravelly parts of the route.
Neil was just inside 52 minutes, and Rachael just outside 59 minutes which was a great effort.
Youngsters on Form
There was a good turnout of young runners at the race, and it would be great to see them all at the cross-country at QEII School next Sunday.
Leighton Curphey looked in great form as he won the 2km race, with James Fisher second and Orry Nelson-Gale third.
Emira Bowden was the leading girl ahead of Xenia Munoz-Fite and Evelyn Stubbs.
Jack Davison was the 1km winner ahead of Lucas Poggio, with leading girl Amelia Cain in third overall.
