It’s always great to see a new name taking the limelight, and it was the turn of Albert Johnson to take victory in the Western 10 road race.
Describing himself as a ‘lockdown runner’ who took up running during the lockdowns of 2020, Albert has competed in a few races but not for a couple of years.
On Sunday morning he showed how good he is by coming out on top in a close tussle with Oliver Chambers in a very competitive race.
Much more familiar was the woman’s race winner Christa Cain who has excelled over recent years in distance races, and she produced another fine performance.
Callum Gawne won the Julie Brew Memorial race walk, which as usual enjoyed a huge representation from Marown Football Club.
