Mec Vannin and Speaker Juan Watterson have paid tribute to former Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond after his sudden death.
Mr Salmond, 69, died suddenly in North Macedonia on Saturday.
Describing him as a “great Celtic nationalist”, Mec Vannin president Bernie Moffatt said he was “saddened to hear of the death of the great Scottish nationalist leader”.
He added: “Alex visited the Isle of Man on a number of occasions in connection with the working of the British Irish Council.
“He also gave a Chief Ministers lecture here about a decade ago and on another occasion laid a wreath at the monument to the Scottish fishermen who perished in the Solway Harvester tragedy.”
Speaker Juan Watterson said he had only seen Mr Salmond two weeks prior to his death at the 25th anniversary of the Scottish Parliament.
He said the former SNP leader “always had a keen interest in the Isle of Man as a model for Scotland to follow”.
Mr Salmond spoke of the relationship between Scotland and the Isle of Man when he visited to lay the wreath at the memorial to the Solway Harvester.
