Juan Christian has declared his intention to stand for Arbory, Castletown and Malew in this year’s House of Keys General Election.
He says it would be “an incredible honour” to represent the constituency he grew up in.
Christian, who was raised in Clagh Vane, Ballasalla, said he hopes to be “a voice” for residents, reflecting the values they want to see in Manx society.
He highlighted his long-standing ties to the area, from attending Ballasalla School and Castle Rushen High School to playing football for Malew AFC, and his later role as a local business owner after opening Compton Vaults in Castletown in 2018.
He has worked across several island sectors, including construction, events, and frontline support at Abbotswood during the COVID‑19 pandemic.
Election Bid
More recently, he has held roles with Isle Listen, The Children’s Centre and Mooinjer Veggey, organising community events in Poulsom Park and Ballafesson.
Christian said these experiences have given him skills in project management, planning, leadership and risk management, as well as insight into the pressures facing households and public services.
He pointed to cost-of-living challenges, healthcare pressures and ongoing debate around the new Castle Rushen High School as key issues for the next administration.
He called for improved food and energy security, reforms to Manx Care to reduce waiting times, and stronger accountability for government projects.
Christian said he wants to champion opportunities for young people, support the arts and heritage sector, and help revitalise hospitality through increased footfall.
He said he would work “tirelessly” to ensure the voice of Arbory, Castletown and Malew is heard in Tynwald if elected.
Current MHK Jason Moorhouse has yet to declare his intention regarding re-election.
Mark Firth and Kirrie Jenkins have also so far declared their intention to stand in Arbory, Castletown and Malew.
