A planning application has been submitted to install a large statue of King Orry near Tynwald Hill.
Submitted by President of Tynwald Laurence Skelly, the application is for land opposite the Hill on Main Road in St Johns.
The plan is for King Orry to face east, gesturing towards Tynwald in a north easterly direction.
While Mr Skelly is listed as the formal applicant, a letter from him supporting the project says it is a DoI application while CJ Design Limited is listed as the application agent.
Mr Skelly’s letter says: “The proposed site for the statue near Tynwald Hill is highly appropriate and will act as a focal point of interest to help promote and educate both locals and visitors alike.
“An interpretation plaque will aid the education aspect of the statue’s significance.”
