Living Hope has been given the green light to open a new place of worship in the centre of Douglas.
The church is converting the empty shop on Finch Road to function as a meeting and community space.
Currently meeting at the Palace Cinema, representative David Baker told the planning committee the church was “excited” to redevelop the building.
He said that Living Hope was confident it would make a positive contribution to the community through its new base which would have space for up to 300 people in the assembly hall, with space for up to 200 in other rooms.
The redevelopment of the site will mean it will not have any parking on site, with members encouraged to use the Chester Street car park where he said there was “more than adequate parking”.

It will also see the restoration of a fountain outside the building which has long stopped being used.
Mr Baker said the church’s main services will be on Sundays, with some evening meetings throughout the week.
Planners gave their unanimous support to the plans.
