Locate Isle of Man has launched its 2026 programme of Relocation Events and Young Professional Connection Events.
The event is aimed at helping new residents and returning young people settle into island life.
The announcement comes as inward migration continues at historically high levels.
Government population data shows an estimated 8,065 people have moved to the Isle of Man between the 2021 Census and the first quarter of 2025, with annual arrivals holding steady at around 2,200 a year.
New Islanders
Newcomers also remain younger than the island’s population overall. The average age of new and returning residents is 40, compared with 44 for the wider population, and 75% are under 50.
Separate figures released under the Freedom of Information Act show a similar trend in tax registrations.
The number of people newly registered as Manx tax‑paying residents rose sharply after 2020/21 and has remained above 2,000 a year:
- 2020/21: 1,285
- 2021/22: 1,651
- 2022/23: 2,072
- 2023/24: 2,026
- 2024/25: 2,023
Within those totals, the number of new and returning residents aged 60 and over has grown in absolute terms, reaching 263 in 2024/25; the highest in the five‑year period. Older residents now make up around 13% of new tax registrations, compared with roughly 15% in 2020/21.
The new event series, delivered in partnership with PwC, includes informal social meet‑ups and networking sessions designed to help people build connections and feel part of the community.
It is open to those who have relocated, returned after study or work, or remained on‑island after education.
Ann Corlett MHK said the programme supports the island’s long‑term economic aims by helping people “feel part of our wonderful community” and easing the transition into island life.
