Man Breached Restraining Order

A man who breached a restraining order by contacting an ex-partner will be sentenced in October.

Steven Wheeler, 41, care of the Isle of Man Prison, admitted the charge when he appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.

Prosecutor Barry Swain said Wheeler had been in a relationship with a woman until July 2023 and that the order was imposed on him in February after a string of incidents.

Under the terms of that order he was not allowed to approach, harass or contact the woman or attempt to do so or encourage anyone else to do so.

However, at 10:49pm on July 24 he did try to contact the woman by ringing her from phone numbers unknown to her.

Mr Swain said the woman said Wheeler seemed “frantic” and made six calls throughout the evening.

Wheeler’s advocate Paul Glover asked for social enquiry report to be completed before sentencing.

There was no application for bail and he’ll be sentenced on October 1.
