Final testing on the generators on Manannan will take place within the next 30 minutes.
Following this testing a final decision to sail or not to sail will be made.
The Steam Packet previously said this afternoon’s sailing has been pushed back to 6pm.
Manannan left the island for Liverpool this morning but was forced to turn back due to a control fault on one of her generators.
With engineers working to resolve the issue, the company says it will now try to depart Douglas later on.
Passengers on this morning’s sailings were transferred to Heysham.
